After the participants signed in, Teen Promise Executive Director, Evangeline Parker welcomed parents and participants to the 'Mother Daughter Who Knows You Baby" ice breaker. During the session, some parents learned new things about their daughters interests and some parents learned that they are on track with their daughters thoughts and dreams.
Quersten McDonald, Miss Teen Promise 2006 welcomed participants to the "Teen Promise Energy Circle" where participants shared and learned interested facts about each other.
What is Teen Promise? Jamille Rogers, Miss Teen Promise 1998 answered that question and more during her session. Parents and participants learned the mission, objectives and received answers to all of their questions.
The day continued with a welcome from Keyjahjna Hayes, Miss Teen Promise 2009 and Whitney Williams, Lady Ms Teen Promise 2009. During the group breakout sessions, participants put away their shyness and learned how to prepare themselves for the Miss Teen Promise Scholarship Competition but for various life situations like involvement in community service and the importance of presenting the right image.
During the "Networking lunch" participants discussed current events, shared that they want to learn how to become proper young ladies, raise their self esteem, overcome shyness, gain knowledge to compete in pageants and make new friends.
The day ended with a red carpet ready photo session. Over the next nine weeks, Teen Promise will assist the participants in becoming more poised, positive, professional, productive and polished young ladies!
